Fire and Brimstone

Come With Us

We spent the summer, six months of the year, on the road in our RV, driving between our home in Florida and Santa Cruz, California, to see our daughter. The route changes every year. If you want to experience climate change, global warming, or whatever you want to call it, come with us.

You will not need a passport, a conference badge, or a chart. The tour runs in a Newmar Dutch Star, 42 feet of diesel with a generator, an air conditioner, and a thermometer on the dash that holds no political opinions. Lanying drives. I read the signs and write. The cat goes under the bed when the cat decides the tour is over, and the cat is usually right.

It is a long way. Crystal River to Santa Cruz runs the better part of 3,000 miles the short way, and we never take the short way. Six months buys many stops, and most of them look alike: a fuel pump, a parking lot, a campground with Shady in the name and no shade. I will spare you those. The stops that follow are the ones the weather chose.
